Cannabis Science Inc. (OTC: CBIS) is a biotech company based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The company was incorporated in 2009 and trades publicly under the ticker CBIS on the Over-The-Counter Bulletin Board. Their goal is to obtain Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for cannabis-based medicines, with a focus on treating skin cancer (basal and squamous cell carcinomas), Posttraumatic stress disorder and HIV. They are also studying the use of cannabinoids to treat sleep disorders.


The U.S. legal cannabis industry was valued at over $2 billion in in 2014.


Management

The current CEO and president of Cannabis Science is Robert Melamede Ph.D., the former Chairman, and current professor, of the Biology Department at University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Melamede is a renowned cannabinoid researcher, and teaches a class on cannabinoids.
