The term ‘Jefferson airplane’ refers to a match that has been broken into a ‘V’ shape to function as an improvised roach clip for a low-burning joint or spliff. Jefferson Airplane is also the name of a San Francisco rock band formed in 1965 — it is often disputed if there is any connection between the band’s name and the hippy slang.
